Tarot: Clearing Your Cards

Files under Psychic, Tarot | Leave a Comment

Hello everyone, hope you day is going good. Mine isn’t too bad. I am glad it’s raining though, it will wash away some of the pollen. My allergies are acting up big time. Today I am going to continue with tarot, I am going to tell you how to use the cards.

The most important thing you remember when you are doing a Tarot reading is to be objective, by this I mean to open yourself to the possibilities of the Tarot and don’t let your preconceived notions sneak in to the reading.

For example, let’s say you have a client ask the question, “Am I going to win the lottery tonight?”, and you think that the lottery is a waste of time. You have to be careful that your judgement cloud the reading. Let your client know instead why she may be obsessed with winning the lottery, that there may be another issue that she might be trying to work out.

Make sure that you let the cards talk, let them come out and read what they say, not what you feel about them. While you are starting out, there is nothing wrong with reading right from the book, until you get a feel for the cards & can do a reading with out the book. Or you may just want to continue using the book, this is ok. It gives you are clear perspective & helps to keep your feeling out of the way.

An important way to help both you and your client get the most out of a reading is to “wear in” your cards. It is good to do this on a weekly basis. There are many ways to do this, everyone has their own way. Here is the way I do it: First I separate my deck into 5 piles, all the Minor Arcana cards in their suits; Wands with Wands, Cups with Cups, Swords with Swords, Pentacles with Pentacles and the all the Major Arcana cards together.

Next spend time with each pile, clearing the cards from each week’s readings. You should use an affirmation  while doing this. An affirmation is a positive sort of prayer. Here is the one that I use, “With these cards, I wish to read the next person confidently, with the best intentions & the highest good”, I actually took this affirmation from a book that I read & modified it to my own likely. You can do the same or you can make up one of your own.

Repeat your affirmation as you shuffle each of the five decks. This will clear the of any past readings. When you are finished with each pile, reshuffle them back together like you would if it was a new deck. Shuffle the deck about 6-7 times and it will be reading for a new week od readings. This process is called “Seasoning”. It clears the cards energy as well as your own, renewing the deck, so that present readings will not be influenced by past readings.

Good Luck. If you have any questions about this or any of my past posts feel free to email me  at lisa.page@comcast.net

One of the first things you need to remember when reading tarot cards is that the power lies within you. The Tarot in only an instrument of insight into your free will.

The Tarot deck consists of 78 cards. It is divided into 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards. The Major Arcana cards are The Fool, The Magician, The High Pristess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, Wheel Of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgement, The World/Universe.

The Minor Arcana cards and broken done into 4 suits, Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles. They correspond to Clubs, Hearts, Spades and Diamonds in the regular deck of cards. Each of the 4 suits is broken done into 14 cards; 1-10 and 4 royal cards (a Page, Knight, Queen, and King).

The four suits related to the four elements of the astrological signs of the zodiac.

Suit        Element         Meaning         Corresponding Astrological Signs

Wands       Fire              Action, initiate    Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Cups          Water          Emotion, intuition    Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Well, that’s it for tonight’s post, I don’t want to confuse anyone with too much info. Over the next month I will be posting more on the Tarot, so be sure to come back.
